Simples Present X Present Continuous

Present simple = routine/always true/permanent: I work in Bristol. Trains leave at six. Present continuous = happening now/temporary/developing/arranged: I’m working from home today.

No, those sentences are not correct. When we put the action into an unfinished time frame (beginning in the past and continuing to the present) we use the present perfect, as you say, and not the present simple.
